Dr Chan Heng Thye
Dr Chan Heng Thye , Senior Orthopaedic Consultant, was in private practice in Mount Elizabeth Hospital (1980 Jan - 1995 Dec) and in Gleneagles Hospital (1996 Jan - 2010 Dec). In these two places he worked as a Director of Chan Orthopaedic Clinic. He majored in Spinal surgery; Traumatology; Arthroscopic surgery and Pediatric surgery. In 1977, Dr Chan founded the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where the first total Hip Replacement Surgery in Singapore was done. Dr Chan served faithfully in the Singapore Medical Council for over 13 years and was Chairman of the following:
Medical Advisory Board HMI Balestier Hospital (1989-1997), Rotary International Club of Singapore East (1997-1998).
Dr Chan also served as President to the following associations: Singapore Orthopaedic Association (1980), Association of Private Medical Practitioners (1987-1993), Alumni Medical Association (1989-1990) and Rotary Club of S’pore East (1990).
